Losing all my excess weight fixed my food guilt. I still feel somewhat “trepidatious” around high carb food but that’s because I haven’t eaten it for so long I’m nervous about how I’ll react to it physically. Before I lost all the weight sticking to a WOE that I enjoyed, felt good on and moved the dial on weight loss also stopped me feeling guilty. Your article made me think about my long journey with food guilt. At least some of it was shame. Shame that I didn’t seem to be able to get a handle on eating well, feeling well and looking good.
I totally get that. With all of the "Lose Weight Easy in 30 Days" claims bombarding us all the time, it's no wonder we feel ashamed and defeated when it doesn't work that easily for us. I am so happy you've been finding mental clarity along with your weight loss 💕💯
The main food guilt I've had since becoming a vegan is eating peanut butter M&Ms since they are made with "milk" chocolate. But my body has told me in no uncertain terms via allergic reactions that I need to stop eating them. So I have.
I totally get that - peanut butter M&M's are the absolute best M&M's!! I miss them as well... I wonder if there are plant-based M&M's? Hmmm, now I have to go do a deep dive to find out 🤭💕
So, I found out that Mars, the company that produces M&M's, has not yet released a plant-based version of M&M's. I did, however, find some alternatives that are supposedly similar and taste good.
I am writing an article for tomorrow actually that has a couple of recipes for vegan ice cream. I'll list the plant-based candy alternatives I found in the article with links on where to find them. 🍫💖
